Churchill has been awarded a new station cleaning contract with Govia Thameslink Railway worth £3.5 million.
The new deal extends an initial contract which has seen the two companies working together over the last 12 months.
The mobilisation for this contract commenced on the 1 July and was completed in just four weeks. It involved a TUPE transfer of 150 operatives including the management team.
Churchill has invested circa £200,000 in new uniforms, innovative cleaning equipment and bespoke fitted out deep cleaning vans able to hold 100 litre water containers and provide the flexibility required by the clients to respond to immediate cleaning demands unique to the rail environment.
Improvements to the management team has according to Churchill provided “increased engagement” across its teams “improving motivation and accountability”.
Churchill has also launched a new, enhanced in transit cleaning service to improve the customer experience on the Gatwick Express – the non-stop train between London Victoria and London Gatwick Airport
Stuart Cooper, National Operations Director (Rail), said: “We have had a very challenging but successful year with GTR overcoming challenges and complexities, however we are delighted that our success to date has been recognised through the recent award of an additional station cleaning contract worth £3.5m.”
