23 CHTMAG.COM INTERVIEW FEATURE TECHNOLOGY Forsyth is understandably proud of the way Mitie’s security business now offers one of, if not the, leading service in the sector. It is his ambition to bring exactly the same level of success to Environmental +. So what is the plan to achieve this? Mitie is currently investing massively in IT systems. All of which is the firm’s very own software, developed by their in-house team, completely unique to them. First of all there’s the new online platform, Workplace +. Set to be introduced in January 2016. Workplace + will allow all Mitie’s front line staff and middle managers to check their pay status, order equipment, book holidays, check their roster up to a year in advance and receive company news, all from their smartphone or tablet, mobile working in action. Workplace + will operate in conjunction with an application called Q Audit, which will allow a company wide confirmation of completed cleans and standards. Then there is MAPP, another app, which is being introduced in order to remove the need for spreadsheets or any paper forms when undertaking periodic work. It will also allow customer confirmation that the standards being provided are acceptable. Finally, Mitie is partnering with Samsung to provide smart watches for their operatives. Their watches will allow “To do lists and tasking” to be sent directly to the operatives watch and allow managers far more knowledge of what is happening on the ground. All of these advances will allow Mitie to offer a massively more efficient and productive service, whilst monitoring the entire process more effectively. Of course training will be key and will be offered to allow staff to get the most out of the new technology. The above apps will show real innovation to the sector.
