The event, co-produced by ISSA, the worldwide cleaning industry association, and its trade show partner RAI Amsterdam, took place in Las Vegas, NV, USA. The trade show, which sold out of show floor space with 729 exhibitors, attracted 16,311 attendees, making it the most highly attended show in nearly a decade. Furthermore, this year’s event attracted a high number of distributor and wholesaler attendees as well as the most building service contractors (BSCs) the show has ever seen. Tom Unger, sales manager for Minuteman International, commented: “This truly is the one show for facility solutions because there is everything anyone in the commercial cleaning industry wants to find right here all under one roof.” OCTOBER CLEANING IN BRIEF  London cleaning specialist, Julius Rutherfoord, is supporting homeless charity, Crisis, by providing free cleaning services at several of its centres in London over the Christmas period. Voluntary support is also being provided for Crisis at Christmas by Julius Rutherfoord’s recycling partner, First Mile. The London commercial recycling firm is providing free collections of recycling and waste from London shelters. Crisis is the national charity for single homeless people and is dedicated to ending homelessness by delivering life-changing services and campaigning for change. Crisis at Christmas 2015 runs from 23 to 30 December. Over 10,000 volunteers will help more than 4,000 homeless guests across the UK. As well as warmth, companionship and hot meals, guests in London, Birmingham, Newcastle, Coventry and Edinburgh will receive healthcare and specialist advice on a range of services including housing, work and benefits. The Crown Commercial Service (CCS) has launched a new Laundry and Linen Services agreement to provide public sector customers with easy access to a flexible, compliant route to market. Developed in collaboration with NHS trusts and police forces, the agreement is focused on achieving the best value whole life cost and is expected to help customers make substantial savings. It covers the collection, wash, finish and return of a wide range of items including bedding, towels, clothing, theatre wear, uniforms (including hi-vis and other specialist items), gowns, shower curtains, mops, table linen and bags (including plastic, polyester, and water soluble), and other items such as bath mats, slings, gloves, cloths, bed pads. Environmental consultancy and contract management company, Helistrat has been appointed by property management firm, Ravensale to manage the waste and recycling services for its Wembley Commercial Centre. At 160,000 sq ft, Wembley Commercial Centre provides commercial, industrial and office space to over 80 businesses ranging from online retailers, food suppliers to the airline industry and retail shops, clothing wholesalers and bean bag manufacturers. It also lets self-access storage units under the trading name of Apex Self Access Storage. The terms of the deal will see Helistrat implement a recycling solution suitable for the centre’s diverse range of businesses. Replacing the old system (that saw a high proportion of material sent to landfill) the new service will both increase recycling rates and help to control the waste management costs of both Helistrat’s client and their tenants. ABC hygiene has announced its move to new washroom service headquarters in central Hertford. The new site provides ABC hygiene with improved access to their client base located in London, the Home Counties and across the South East. ABC hygiene has provided washroom services solutions to a steadily growing customer base since 2003 and this move realises the ambition of the business to have a bespoke site that integrates the service, administration and sales divisions to allow ABC hygiene to provide hygiene applications at competitive prices whilst continuing to grow the business. Northern Ireland’s Mount Charles Group, has been awarded a three-year contract valued at £500,000 to provide cleaning services for the terminal building at Belfast International Airport. The contract, which Mount Charles says is a significant boost for the business commences on 1 December 2015, and will see the transfer of 30 staff, bringing the total employed by the company at the airport to over 70. Service solutions business, Churchill has announced a major new rebrand going into 2016. Churchill’s new look includes a new website, a new company ethos (Forward Thinking) and a new umbrella social ethos (Churchill Advantage) which comprises all employees, clients and suppliers. The new logo has been chosen to capture the new ‘Forward Thinking’ ethos in its design. The new website is built around current news and live social media and Churchill have created a platform which presents a ‘live’ snapshot of its activities and an informative take on the industry as a whole. Andy Windebank has been appointed as client relationship director at support services company Emprise Services, where he will be responsible for managing and developing key client relationships across all sectors of Emprise’s cleaning division. Windebank joins the company from OCS, where he spent 15 years most recently as operations director in the aviation sector looking after contracts within Heathrow and Gatwick airports for airlines, airport operators and other stakeholders; and latterly as client relations director for aviation. B&M Waste Services has announced today a commitment that all staff will from this point forward be paid at least the minimum living wage after completion of a probationary period. Established over 60 years Bagnall and Morris’ commitment to staff development is evident in the company’s ongoing apprentice and graduate recruitment schemes and ongoing staff training and development. Ongoing investment in staff has already been recognised this year through the company being awarded ‘Employer of the Year’ at the City of Manchester Business Awards.
