Pest control business, Positive Environmental Ltd has been awarded one of Europe’s highest standards for pest management services.
The European standard for excellence award was presented to the Herefordshire-based company after achieving conformance to BS EN 16636 2015.
In essence, the accolade specifies the requirements, recommendations and basic competences in relation to the services provided by pest management companies; it forms the basis of a CEPA – or Confederation of European Pest Management Associations – certification scheme for certified professional pest management.
Positive Environmental was independently audited against the requirements of the standard by Bureau Veritas and passed the audit with flying colours.
James Ostler, founder of Positive Environmental said:
“We are absolutely delighted to have been recognised by such a prestigious body and to have been awarded one of Europe’s most exacting standards. It means we are operating to the highest standards with our current clients and will provide credibility and assurance to prospective ones.
“The standard contains clear requirements and guidance for services such as ours on how to ensure a high quality, professional pest management service which minimises risk to human health and any potential negative impacts on the environment.”
Jessica Morgan, CEPA product manager of Bureau Veritas UK, added:
“CEPA certification is not only a mark of professionalism, it puts Positive Environmental on a level playing field with the best pest management companies in the world and allows end users, whether that be businesses or individuals, to be confident in the quality of service they are receiving.”
The standard applies to those who have responsibility for delivering pest management services, including the assessment, recommendation and subsequent execution of control and prevention procedures.
Specifically, it is relevant to all pest control companies providing a service for domestic and/or commercial premises and local authority personnel dealing with pest control.
Positive Environmental – which operates throughout Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, West Midlands and into neighbouring areas such as South Shropshire and Mid Wales – targets a host of sectors which need to comply with strict environmental risk practices, including housing associations, food manufacturers, processors, retailers and importers, schools and colleges, distribution and storage companies, catering businesses, hotels, animal care and animal feed organisations, health care providers, the agricultural industry, pet products, facilities and property management and drainage companies.
