Commercial cleaning business, Unique Support Services, servicing clients in Surrey, London and the South East has been awarded accreditation from Alcumus SafeContractor for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace.
Alcumus SafeContractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management amongst contractors. It is used by thousands of organisations in the UK including SMEs and FTSE 100 companies.
Employing 150 people, Unique Support Services has been established for 25 years this year and are specialists in cleaning commercial and industrial buildings including hotels, restaurants, retail outlets, offices, educational and leisure establishments, with a £2 million turnover. Unique Support Services most recent clients have included Radisson Blu, Hilton, InterContinental Hotels Group, and Kingston and Brighton Universities.
The company’s application for SafeContractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business covering all of the services provided which include specialist window cleaning, back of house and front of house cleaning, marble, granite and floor maintenance and renovation, carpet and upholstery cleaning and care and deep cleaning. SafeContractor accreditation will enhance the company’s ability to win new contracts, and its commitment to safety will be viewed positively by its insurers when the company liability policy is up for renewal.
Gemma Archibald, Director of Alcumus SafeContractor said: “Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place. More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Unique Support Services has done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the cleaning sector.”
This was echoed by Managing Director Paul Vincent of Unique Support Services who said: “We are delighted to have received this accreditation and to have been recognised for our commitment to health and safety. Areas of what we do can be dangerous, for example high rise window cleaning and it is important we minimise the risk as much as humanly possible whilst still providing the outstanding service our clients are used to. We hope that receiving this accreditation will also enhance the appeal of our company to potential new clients.”
