Lloyd joins the London based business as part of an expanding senior management team. Starting his career in the cleaning industry, Lloyd joined Rentokil Initial on a graduate programme from university where he stayed for five years before moving onto work at Strand Cleaning as account director, managing large contracts in Central London. After three years, he became senior director at Regular Cleaning where he stayed for five years before joining Principle Cleaning. Lloyd, who has a proven track record of running all aspects of operations in the cleaning industry, will be overseeing a number of prestigious London contracts for Principle Cleaning, such as The Shard, 20 Fenchurch Street, Lloyd’s of London, 30 St Mary Axe (The Gherkin) and Standard Chartered Bank. 4 DECEMBER / JANUARY 2016 CLEANING HYGIENE TODAY CLEANING SECTOR TO BENEFIT FROM MOVE TO RAISE PEST CONTROL STANDARDS OCS STRIKES A DEAL WITH CITY FOOTBALL GROUP OCS has scored a three-year contract with City Football Group to provide a range of services at the Etihad Stadium, home to Manchester City Football Club, the City Football Academy, and its London office sites. The contract starts on the 11 January 2016 and includes cleaning, waste management, pest control, hygiene, and window cleaning services. Following its expansion in 2015, the Etihad Stadium has a capacity of over 55,000, making it the third largest stadium in the Premier League and eighth largest in the UK. The stadium is known as one of the nation’s best, not only in terms of size but also of facilities which include a kitchen providing up to 6,000 meals on match-days across six restaurants, conference suites and press rooms. CLEANING INDUSTRY IN TALKS TO RELAUNCH CSSA Contract cleaners from across the UK gathered in London recently to discuss a relaunch of the Cleaning and Support Services Association (CSSA). Formed in the mid 1960s the CSSA was well regarded among contract cleaning firms and at its height had over 100 members. Membership however, dwindled in recent years and in 2013 the CSSA entered merger talks with Asset Skills, FMA and BIFM. It was anticipated the CSSA would eventually become part of the Building Futures Group, but in August 2014 members decided against the merger and earlier this year it formally ceased. The CSSA remained a member of the British Cleaning Council (BCC ), sharing the Council’s stand at the Cleaning Show in March. Former BCC chairman, Doug Cooke, who is one of the people behind this latest initiative, says there’s a real gap in the market for contract cleaners at all levels to be represented, and says he’s confident firms will see the benefits of becoming members. He says the new CSSA would focus solely on the contract cleaning sector, and argues that members would have unique opportunities to network, and be one step ahead when important innovations and developments come along. The business lunch in the City was well attended, and now emails are circulating to inform other interested parties across the UK to get the wheels in motion once again. A move to promote professional standards in pest control has been hailed as positive news for the cleaning industry. In December two pest control companies became the first in the UK to be accredited against a benchmark of quality recognised throughout Europe. Both are allied to the British Pest Control Association (BPCA) and the leading trade body is now challenging its 450-plus servicing members follow their example. The initiative was launched earlier this year by the Confederation of European Pest Management Associations. All BPCA member companies will be at least working towards the standard from January and Forrester is aiming to help everyone pass the audit by the deadline of June 2017.
