2Pure Products’ closed-loop LoopBox solution

UK-based hygiene industry innovator 2Pure Products is measurably reducing plastic waste through LoopBox, the UK’s first closed-loop initiative for recycling both containers and packaging in the cleaning and facilities management (FM) sector.

Market-leading products, including OdorBac Tec4 multipurpose cleaner and OdorBac Toilet & Scale, are delivered to commercial customers in reusable LoopBoxes. Once empty, containers are returned in the boxes, collected by UK distributor BCHS (Bunzl Cleaning & Hygiene Supplies), and taken to local depots. During scheduled deliveries, 2Pure collects the boxes and returns them to its factory, where containers are sorted, cleaned, dried, refilled and repacked before re-entering the distribution cycle.

This innovative system prevents virgin plastic production by repeatedly reusing OdorBac’s recycled plastic bottles. It requires no additional collection or delivery journeys, while 2Pure offsets carbon emissions from scheduled journeys. Customers receive monthly, customised reports detailing their plastic and CO₂ savings, providing measurable evidence of environmental progress.

Since LoopBox launched, more than 21,000 plastic jerrycans have been reused, preventing over six tonnes of CO₂ emissions. Most cardboard packaging has also been reused or recycled, while participation in the recycling initiative has doubled year on year.

Embedding sustainability in hygiene innovation

2Pure Products Director James Law said: “From day one, we have been committed to reducing our environmental impact, from using ingredients safe for people and the planet to manufacturing all bottles and containers from 100 per cent recycled plastic.

“LoopBox extends this commitment by minimising virgin plastic use and reducing emissions through smarter logistics, making sustainable practices practical for customers.

“By consolidating products, using closed-loop systems like LoopBox, and prioritising safe chemistries, the industry can establish a new benchmark: one where sustainability, efficiency, and hygiene work in harmony. This is the agenda that will define the future of FM and cleaning.”
