Churchill has won a three-year cleaning contract, valued at £2.1 million, with social housing association Yorkshire Housing. The contract has the option of a further two-year extension.
Utilising 14 mobile operatives supported by a dedicated management team, Churchill is providing cleaning services for communal spaces. These services will be delivered across 250 locations in Yorkshire, including a mixture of sheltered and general housing buildings. Churchill’s bespoke monitoring and reporting system, Mo:dus has previously demonstrated its capabilities in the housing sector and was a key determinant in winning the contract.
Social Value
Churchill was chosen in the tender process not only for its expertise in cleaning, but also for its social values. Churchill has pledged £20k over the contract’s lifetime to the Target Hardening funding pot for Yorkshire Housing residents. This funding will provide safeguarding to Yorkshire Housing customers who have experienced any form of domestic abuse. Safety Planning is also carried out in any affected homes to keep residents and children safe, such as changing existing locks or fitting door chains and window locks. This discourages abusers from returning.
Churchill’s pledge as part of the Employers Domestic Abuse Covenant means that this partnership will be built not only on a service basis but also on a social aim – to help more people in domestic abuse situations get the help they need through housing and employment.
Robert Agar, Environmental and Estates Service Manager at Yorkshire Housing, said: “Yorkshire Housing is proud to be introducing Churchill to our team. Churchill’s experience and knowledge are sure to provide our tenants with clean, comfortable, and safe spaces to live. We are also delighted by Churchill’s commitment to our Target Hardening fund, which will aid us in helping many people in difficult living situations.”
Martin D’Mello, Social Housing Strategic Lead at Churchill, said: “We are delighted to be working with Yorkshire Housing to deliver clean and safe spaces for their residents. The Yorkshire Housing team does amazing work to help make housing accessible to all. Our social value principles match perfectly, and we are proud to be doing work with other socially minded businesses.”
