OCS UK, a leading facilities management company, has been awarded a four-year contract by Alstom to provide comprehensive cleaning services for the Voyager fleet at the Central Rivers Train Maintenance Depot in Staffordshire. This new contract enhances OCS’s existing portfolio of services for Alstom, further solidifying its partnership with the Rolling Stock manufacturer and train services provider.
OCS has proudly worked in partnership with Alstom since 2020, delivering the full spectrum of train cleaning 24/7, 365 days per year.
Under this new contract, approximately 50 colleagues have transitioned from the incumbent service provider to OCS. The scope of work includes daily cleaning as trains come out of service, periodic deep cleaning, exterior cleaning, and carpet cleaning.
OCS attributes this contract win to several key factors:
- Presentation Standards: With existing contracts through Alstom and other major rail industry players, OCS has honed its expertise in train cleaning and presentation.
- Detailed Reporting: Utilising industry-standard platforms, OCS provides detailed reporting on our performance, ensuring transparency and accountability.
- Value for Money: OCS offers competitive pricing without compromising on quality.
- Trusted Partnership: through our existing relationship with Alstom, OCS have demonstrated a flexible approach built on trust and a deep understanding of the unique needs of their evolving fleet.
As the CrossCountry fleet undergoes refurbishment, with design work already underway and physical refurbishments set to begin next year and conclude in 2027, OCS will deploy its expert and innovative cleaning methods to maintain the fleet’s cleanliness and ensure a pleasant experience for customers
The existing fleet is now over 20 years old, and OCS is working in partnership with Alstom and CrossCountry on a full review of the cleaning specification, using its experience both on other Alstom fleets as well as with other major rail industry players.
“As we embark on this new contract with Alstom, we are committed to delivering the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation for the Voyager fleet. Our team’s dedication and expertise will ensure that customers enjoy a fresh and pleasant travel experience. OCS is very proud of our partnership with Alstom, and we look forward to continuing to grow this in the years ahead,” said Richard Marshall, Transport Sector Managing Director at OCS UK.
Charlotte Burnham, General Manager Central Rivers added: “Central Rivers is excited to enter into this new venture with OCS as our part of our commitment to deliver a first class service to our customers and ultimately, the end passengers. We are eager to see what OCS can achieve with their innovations on tooling, processes and cleaning products to uplift the fleet and maintain high standards going forwards.
“We believe that a higher standard of cleanliness can be achieved with a little bit of forward thinking, enthusiasm and hard work and that OCS are the right team to deliver this for us.
“We are proud to be the maintainer of choice for the Voyager fleet, which includes ensuring that we provide safe, clean reliable trains day after day. OCS will now play a big part in this commitment and we look forward to the next 4 years in collaboration with them.”
