phs Group launches sustainable urinal floor mat to enhance washroom hygiene

phs Group has unveiled the latest addition to its sustainable floorcare range – the phs Urinal Floor Mat, an innovative solution designed to improve hygiene standards in busy washrooms.
Developed specifically for high-traffic environments, the Urinal Floor Mat neutralises odours, reduces splashback and supports businesses in meeting their ESG commitments.
As with all products in the phs floorcare range, sustainability is central to its design, combining high performance with measurable environmental benefits.
The mats are manufactured using rPET from recycled plastic bottles and are serviced monthly alongside feminine hygiene units, ensuring consistent cleanliness and convenience.
Research shows that up to 90 per cent of dirt inside buildings is tracked in on foot, spreading throughout the premises. phs Group’s comprehensive floorcare range is designed to provide protection at every stage of the journey, from entrance matting and lift car mats to warehouse flooring and washroom hand dryer mats.
John Morgan, Head of Floorcare Commercial at phs Group, said: “Mats matter in every part of the workplace, from the entrance through to the washroom. Our new Urinal Floor Mat offers a practical and sustainable solution to a common hygiene challenge in gents’ toilets. While it may be a new concept for some, it addresses a very real and often overlooked need.”
Safety is also a key consideration. With around 40 per cent of workplace injuries caused by slips, trips and falls, and many related liability claims resulting in successful outcomes for claimants, effective matting plays a vital role in risk reduction.
phs Group works closely with customers to identify problem areas and implement tailored floorcare solutions, including specialised matting for specific environments.
Offering Europe’s largest range of floorcare products, phs Group continues to innovate to meet evolving customer needs, particularly around sustainability and ESG performance.
Its plain mats are made from 100 per cent ECONYL® regenerated nylon, sourced from reclaimed fishing nets, while its logo and image mats utilise rPET from recycled bottles.
Like many phs Group products, the Urinal Floor Mat is fully recyclable at the end of its lifecycle and can be converted into energy, supporting a circular approach to waste management.
