SBFM acquires ecosense, safeguarding 1,200 jobs

Soft FM provider SBFM has completed the first acquisition in its history and has bought the business and assets of commercial cleaning company ecosense. This follows the company’s entry into administration.
The deal, effective from 1 July 2026, secures ecosense’s contracts across the UK and safeguards all 1,200 of the company’s roles. Existing ecosense client contracts have transferred to SBFM and services continue without disruption.
Founded in 2010 and headquartered in London, ecosense has grown into a nationwide cleaning provider with a strong portfolio of private and public sector customers. The acquisition brings SBFM a complementary technology offering and further strengthens its presence across both sectors.
Central to the deal are ecosense’s 1,200 colleagues, who will benefit from SBFM’s commitment to progression, training, development and access to upskilling. SBFM will also deploy its proprietary technology across the ecosense customer base, driving efficiencies and savings for customers.
Colin Shute, Founder of SBFM, said: “ecosense is a business with real technological strength and it shares our commitment to innovation, colleague welfare and progression pathways. Our immediate focus is on reassuring clients and colleagues. Contracts continue, services continue, and the people delivering them stay in place. We are pleased to have been able to move so quickly to protect 1,200 jobs.
“This marks a significant step in our acquisition-led growth strategy. We’ll continue to seek opportunities that create value for our customers, colleagues and the wider business across the UK and Ireland.”
