Kärcher shines a light on the people behind our everyday moments

As Thank Your Cleaner Day takes place on 14 October, Kärcher is encouraging people to recognise the 1.51 million people working across the UK’s cleaning, hygiene and waste sector.

The UK’s wider cleaning, hygiene and waste sector contributes nearly £72 billion to the economy and employs 1.51 million people, around five per cent of the national workforce. Behind those figures are the cleaning professionals who help keep workplaces, schools, hospitality venues, healthcare settings and public spaces clean, safe and ready for use every day.

Much of that work takes place before the day begins, after buildings have closed or in the background of busy environments. Yet its impact is felt in countless everyday moments: from arriving at a clean workspace, to children learning and playing in prepared classrooms, customers entering welcoming hospitality spaces, and patients receiving care in clean clinical settings.

This Thank Your Cleaner Day, on 14 October, Kärcher is encouraging people to take a moment to acknowledge the time, care and skill involved in creating these environments.

Karl Stewart, Head of Key Accounts at Kärcher commented: “Cleaning professionals have an impact on our everyday lives that can often go unnoticed because, when cleaning is done well, it feels effortless. But clean, safe and welcoming spaces do not happen by accident. Thank Your Cleaner Day is a chance to recognise the people behind them and show appreciation for the essential work they carry out every day.”
