ABM renews critical cleaning services contract at University Hospital Waterford

ABM, a leading international provider of facility, engineering, and infrastructure solutions, has been re-awarded a major contract to provide critical cleaning services at University Hospital Waterford (UHW) in Ireland.
Under the contract with the Health Service Executive (HSE), ABM will continue to provide 265 cleaning staff across five UHW facilities, including critical environments such as operating theatres and intensive care units.
The contract is across all facilities at UHW and includes the recently opened Haematology and Oncology Day Unit. This critical cleaning service also supports UHW’s ability to run out of hours clinics, helping create the clean and compliant environments needed to improve patient flow and deliver reduction in waiting lists.
ABM started working with UHW in 2019, at a time when UHW wanted to implement significant change within its cleaning operation to improve overall standards. Following ABM’s appointment, HIQA noted significant improvements in UHW’s cleaning standards within the first three months.
ABM also established Ireland’s first on-site training facility for cleaning operatives at a hospital, where it continues to provide specialist training for new team members.
