Chequers wins with Midland Heart

Soft services provider, Chequers, has secured two five-year contracts with Midland Heart, one of the Midlands’ largest housing associations. The deals are worth £1.9 million annually, and will see Chequers deliver cleaning and grounds maintenance services across more than 1,600 of Midland Heart’s sites.

Midland Heart provides 35,000 quality, affordable homes across 51 local authorities, overseeing 70,000 tenants. It offers a range of housing options for those who need an affordable place to call home, and it builds new homes for social and affordable rent, while also supporting those who want to move into home ownership.

Chequers will deliver cleaning services at 500 locations and grounds maintenance at 1,170 sites, with approximately 50 colleagues transferring to Chequers for the contracts.

Chequers won the contracts following a competitive tender process. Its strong submission and evidence of consistent delivery were key factors in securing the contracts, as was its long track record in the social housing sector.

Emily Leng, Commercial Contracts Manager at Midland Heart, said: “Our priority is ensuring our tenants live in clean, safe and welcoming places they can feel proud of. We’re pleased to be working with Chequers to deliver high‑quality cleaning and grounds maintenance, helping us maintain the shared spaces our tenants rely on every day.”

Naomi Childe, Managing Director at Chequers, said: “We’re delighted to have this opportunity to work with Midland Heart and support the local community. These contract wins reflect our commitment to delivering excellent services and our ability to demonstrate consistent, reliable performance. Our team looks forward to bringing their expertise and dedication to every site across the Midlands.”
