Christeyns Food Hygiene invests in new Re-Use Centre

Specialist hygiene solution provider Christeyns Food Hygiene has invested in a new facility on its site in Warrington.

Based at Winwick Quay, Christeyns Food Hygiene (CFH) recently opened its new Re-Use Centre, a dedicated facility designed to reduce waste and cut carbon impact. The 9000 sq.ft. centre is used to professionally wash used Intermediate Bulk Containers, IBCs, putting them back into circulation and extending the life of each container.

Over the last 12 months the firm has reviewed its operational site plan taking into consideration expected growth over the coming five years, part of this review covered its re-use programme.

For over 20 years CFH has collected its customer’s used IBCs and 200 litre drums, washed and circulated them back into the system for further use. But recent growth in demand for the programme has prompted investment in a larger, dedicated facility.

The firm acquired a brand-new warehouse at their Winwick Quay base and developed this into an industry-leading Re-Use facility which incorporates a complete re-design of the entire operation, expanding capacity by 50% and building in room for future growth.

Where possible, existing equipment has been used alongside state-of-the-art technology, data capture and analytics, all meeting the latest industry standards.

CFH has also added solar panel units to the roof of the centre.  Power generated from these panels, as well as those on one other of their units, will fully power the electric vehicle charging stations across the whole site.

“We are delighted with the new Re-Use Centre, which will have a huge impact on our operations,” states Delme Tudor, Engineering Manager at CFH. “By extending the life of every container, we’re minimising single‑use plastics and helping our customers operate more sustainably.”

Christeyns Food Hygiene is highly regarded in the industry for the design, manufacture and installation of cleaning and disinfection systems and the formulation of detergents and disinfectants for the Food, Dairy and Beverage industries. CFH is part of the Belgian family owned Christeyns group.
