Delphis Eco leads the way in B Corp month

The UK’s first cleaning manufacturer to be awarded B-Corp status, Delphis Eco, is leading the way during B-Corp month by announcing the launch of personalised Carbon Reports for its customers.

As organisations look to measure their carbon footprints and reduce emissions alongside their commitments to Net Zero and initiatives to address climate change, not only does this new report give Delphis Eco visibility of its own footprint but it gives customers total transparency as to how their outputs are being measured. In turn, this helps them to understand and reduce their Scope 3 emissions within their supply chain.

Delphis Eco is the very first business to launch this level of carbon reporting across its customer base, further cementing its position as a leader in delivering ecological initiatives. The company has set reduction targets of 90.00 per cent Scope 1 & 2 and 50 per cent Scope 3 for 2030 and an ambitious goal to reach Net Zero by 2035, from a baseline of 2022.

During B Corp month, Delphis Eco, which has been certified since 2018, is hosting a free webinar at 10am, Tuesday 19th March. Innes Christison, Delphis Eco’s Head of Scope 3, will share details of the reporting process, giving valuable insights into the personalised carbon reports, plus some exciting news about future sustainability initiatives within the business. Details and registration for the event can be found here.

Commenting on the trailblazing initiative, Mark Jankovich, CEO of Delphis Eco, said: “I am hugely proud of this achievement. Since the beginning, we have been driving sustainability at every stage of our business, and the last 3 years have seen deep interrogation into every aspect of our supply chain, involving extensive research into current operations, and taking a deep dive into all aspects of our business. From manufacturing to employee commuting, we’ve created a comprehensive map of our entire company’s emissions footprint.

“It’s been an intensive project; bringing together all key stakeholders both inside and outside of the business. After pulling together all of these resources, we partnered with Zevero, a carbon accounting organisation, to objectively assess and verify our current position in the market.

“We are delighted to announce this during B Corp month, the 2024 theme of which is ‘This Way Forward’, as these reports are helping us to be well on our way forward to Net Zero.  We also hope the initiative will be an exemplar to other manufacturers across the supply chain as customers look to place more emphasis on their Scope 3 emissions.”

Each personalised Carbon Report includes the customers’ product data from the year prior, measuring the impact of each component from ingredients through to labels and delivery. It is considered to be an industry-first within chemical manufacturing and reiterates the dedication Delphis Eco displays in staying accountable and transparent while empowering their customers to do the same, adding tangible value beyond cleaning chemical supply.

The Report will also include comparative information to understand how customers are saving carbon with Delphis Eco’s products against an industry average* and will give customers an emission baseline for further comparison in a year’s time.

The Report includes:

  • Total Carbon Savings: Total carbon saving (kg CO2e), plus the amount of virgin plastic avoided (due to Delphis Eco using Post-Consumer Recycled Plastic for their product packaging).
  • Carbon Savings per Product Against Industry Average: Based on customers’ product volumes, the report will show how much carbon customers are saving in total, compared to an industry average.
  • Total Carbon Emissions: Total Carbon Emissions (kg CO2e) based on the customer’s annual order quantity and how the product(s) emissions are broken down (kg CO2e) e.g. by boxes, delivery, closure, bottles, formulations and labels. An emissions-per-litre measurement is also included for customers to compare carbon reduction year on year.
  • Carbon Emissions per Product Type e.g. what the breakdown is for the Multi-Purpose Cleaner vs. Anti-Bacterial Sanitiser in terms of bottle, box, closure, formulations, delivery and label.

The investigation around Product Component breakdown enables Delphis Eco to also understand where the majority of their emissions are coming from (known as emission hotspots), and to introduce initiatives to address these. For example, Delivery accounts for 32 per cent of their overall emissions, therefore at the end of last year the business partnered with a last-mile emissionless delivery service in London to reduce this number.

George Wade, COO of Zevero said: “With the cleaning industry responsible for significant levels of greenhouse gas emissions, Delphis Eco are showing leadership in accurately quantifying the benefits of their product and sharing this with their customers to make better climate decisions. We’re proud to be a partner in Delphis Eco’s journey and look forward to helping them decarbonise in the years to come.”
