Christeyns opens new engineering facility in Bradford

A brand new engineering facility at Cutler Heights, Bradford, has been officially opened by Judith Cummins, MP for Bradford South, on behalf of chemicals specialist, Christeyns.

A further significant investment in facilities for Christeyns in Bradford, this new Cutler Heights location will provide an important hub for its commercial laundry engineering division, currently handling multi-million pound contracts for laundries nationwide.

Christeyns Engineering is a name synonymous with quality and expertise and has been expanding its influence in the laundry sector year on year. “As the largest player in the UK Commercial Laundry sector with around 75% market share, high-tech engineering systems have become a critical part of our customer offering,” explains Operations Director Dave Aveyard. “This new facility will mean we can better serve our growing customer base and be future ready.”

Judith Cummins, MP for Bradford cut the ribbon with the help of Christeyns apprentices Hena Arif and Jordan Jeffery and declared the facility officially open. “It was an honour to open Christeyns’ new engineering facility with some of the apprentices from their workforce. Christeyns are a great example of a company that is taking the lead on offering apprenticeship schemes to the next generation of our local workforce. I urge other companies from the area who are not already doing so to offer apprenticeship opportunities. There are some great young people out there who are our future.”

Previously the engineering facility was housed at Rutland Street but due to its increasing importance in the Christeyns product and service offering, a larger, purpose-built space was required. This new 5600 sq ft facility at Cutler Heights provides double the amount of space, a spare parts warehouse, maintenance workshop with tool stations for equipment testing and refurbishments, modern meeting room and training facility as well as offices.

The facility will house the engineering team and provide hot desks for visitors as well as meeting facilities for management. Three apprentices are also working with the engineering team and will be based at the site.

The new unit will support strategies and future plans for the next stage of Christeyns corporate development, leading towards 2030, including the continual development of new technologies.

Christeyns UK is part of international detergents and chemicals specialist Christeyns, whose headquarters is in Belgium. Here in the UK the firm employs over 230 staff and incorporates construction chemicals provider Oscrete, as well as Christeyns Food Hygiene, Clover Chemicals and delicate care specialist Cole & Wilson.
