Global hygiene services provider Citron Hygiene has bolstered its UK presence by opening a new waste transfer centre in Ely, Cambridgeshire.
The move to the 5,403 sq ft unit on Elean Business Park, which completed on 5 October, is Citron’s first expansion into the east of the UK. The Toronto-headquartered company has invested significant funds into the new premises which will support its managed hygiene services to thousands of customers in the surrounding areas from a diverse range of sectors including restaurants, bars, retail and the public sector.
Citron already works with many of the UK’s biggest businesses in all major sectors, serving 30,000 commercial locations. The new premises bring its UK footprint to nine locations and well over 300 employees. This investment is part of its key strategy to become the “hygiene services provider of choice” in the UK market.
Martin Page, Operations & Supply Chain Director, of Citron Hygiene said: “This move marks the next chapter of our UK growth story and we’re excited to become part of the Ely community, helping to bring jobs to the local area and be closer to our customers.
“While we’re expanding geographically, we’re also adapting our business model to become more sustainable. This means we’re moving into smaller premises that operate more efficiently, with fewer waste disposal journeys and less miles on the road.
“After the uncertainty of the last few months, which has affected almost all businesses no matter their size or sector, this new growth story is just one way we’re moving into the future with confidence.”
