Cleaning is one of the most important industries in the world yet is often undervalued by those who benefit from the service. Everyday tens of thousands of skilled, hardworking cleaning staff work around the clock to ensure working and living environments are kept clean, safe and hygienic, ready to go for the next business day.
Now in its fifth year, the Thank Your Cleaner Day campaign provides businesses with the platform to bring cleaning staff into the spotlight, so that their hard work and dedication in keeping premises clean can be recognised, reminding everyone of the positive impact they have.
On 16th October 2019 more than 20 countries across the globe will join the Thank Your Cleaner Day campaign, from Australia to the Dominican Republic, to the USA and the United Kingdom. To celebrate this key date, Kärcher encourages the global cleaning industry to support and raise awareness for the important cleaning work many overlook.
There is virtually no limit to the creativity of the companies who take part in Thank Your Cleaner Day. From joint breakfasts, to barbecues or cakes, the feedback from building service contractors, their employees and customers is very positive, with many using this day as the foundation to build reward, recognition and staff development programmes.
Managing Director of Kärcher UK, Simon Keeping commented: “By creating a special day to celebrate the work our cleaners do, we’re focussing attention on the value they bring to improving the quality of our work and leisure environments. These unsung heroes, often working unsociable hours, help improve our productivity at work and enhance our enjoyment during downtime.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to appreciate the great work our cleaning teams do to improve our surroundings. On this day we encourage everyone to take the time just to say hi to their cleaning staff and thank them for making a difference.”
Originating in New Zealand in 2015, Thank Your Cleaner Day is a global initiative which encourages businesses to recognise the hard work of these often-invisible cleaning heroes, to show them they are valued and appreciated.
Businesses all over the UK can show recognition for their cleaning teams by nominating them for the Kärcher ‘Makes A Difference Award’. Nominations can be submitted via the Kärcher website at www.karcher.co.uk/TYCD by 30th September 2019, with the winning team being announced on Thank Your Cleaner Day when they will also receive £1,000 experience day voucher to spend as a team.
This year Kärcher is partnering with the Cleaning and Support Services Association and the British Cleaning Council, along with cleaning contractors across the UK to spread the word and encourage universal recognition on this day.
British Cleaning Council Chairman Paul Thrupp said: “Workers in the cleaning sector provide a vital service to the economy, ensuring that our workplaces, schools, hospitals, transport and public spaces are clean, tidy and safe.
“So we at the BCC are delighted to support this fantastic campaign which encourages people to recognise the hard work of cleaners and the massive contribution they make.”
