Melton House, in Gosforth, Newcastle and part of the Prestwick Care Group, is the 1,000th care home to switch to Blueleaf Care’s plant-based cleaning range n-kind®. To celebrate this milestone, Blueleaf is donating £1,000 to charities chosen by the team at Melton House. Blueleaf’s charity donation is being shared equally between St Oswald’s Hospice and the Alzheimer’s Society.
On Wednesday, 12 March, representatives from Blueleaf and Melton House’s management team presented donation cheques to both charities at a special event hosted at the care home. Residents joined the celebration with a pottery painting workshop, organised by Blueleaf, which provided a creative and therapeutic activity connecting them with nature. The beautifully decorated plant pots will be filled with vibrant plants, adding warmth and cheer to their living spaces.
Andrea Blades, Care Home Manager at Melton House, thanked Blueleaf for the donation and the celebratory event: “We sincerely appreciate Blueleaf’s generous £1,000 donation in our name. St Oswald’s Hospice delivers exceptional care for individuals with life-limiting conditions across the North of England, while Alzheimer’s Society provides invaluable support for some of the most vulnerable members of our community.”
Prestwick Care Group, operated by the Malhotra Group, has been transitioning all of its care homes to Blueleaf’s n-kind range since January, as part of its commitment to reducing the number of chemical-based cleaning solutions used.
Atul Malhotra, Chief Operating Officer, emphasised the benefits of the switch: “Choosing n-kind was an easy decision for us. The transition has been smooth, and the feedback from our care home teams has been overwhelmingly positive. By replacing multiple chemical-based products with just two plant-based, recyclable-packaged solutions, we have improved efficiency, reduced carbon emissions, and maintained exceptional cleaning standards—all while prioritising the health of our residents.”
Blueleaf’s n-kind products are plant-based, biological cleaners which give a deep, longer-lasting clean using 100 per cent biodegradable ingredients. Free from harsh and corrosive chemicals, these solutions are safer for people, animals, and the environment. Only two core concentrate solutions – elimin8 and clean15 – are required to handle all cleaning and disinfection tasks within a care home, simplifying the process while enhancing sustainability with excellent cleaning results.
Ellen Brown, Sales and Marketing Director at Blueleaf Care, highlighted the growing momentum behind n-kind: “We are thrilled to see so many care homes making the switch to chemical-free cleaning. Change can be daunting, but we ensure a seamless transition, and the positive feedback we receive from care home teams speaks volumes. They are proud to contribute to a healthier environment while enhancing the wellbeing of residents and staff—it’s a win-win for everyone.”
