CHSA publishes Fact Sheet on Extended Producer Responsibility

Members of the Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA) and others in the cleaning industry now have access to straightforward information on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), thanks to a new Fact Sheet, published by the CHSA.

EPR came into effect earlier this year. It means that producers of packaging that gets disposed of in the home setting are responsible for the cost of the recycling of the packaging once the product has been consumed.

Its purpose is to encourage a circular economy in which resources are used for as long as possible. It is intended it will deter the use of difficult to recycle packaging and promote reusable packaging while also funding the full recovery costs for packaging waste collected from local authorities.

The Fact Sheet, produced by CHSA members for CHSA members, indicates the organisations affected by EPR for Packaging and how organisations are classified. It also informs members of the action they need to take now to comply.

The Fact Sheet is available on the CHSA website.
