CSSA committee member and Clean Start Initiative lead Daniel Cross is continuing to promote the associations awareness campaign to school pupils, highlighting the diverse opportunities and career paths available within the cleaning industry, recently exhibiting at STEAM Northants, the biggest county ‘careers event for 10–18-year-olds, with representatives from more than 45 schools and colleges and nearly 80 exhibitors hosted by The University of Northampton.
STEAM Northants combines a huge range of activities, workshops, drop-in areas, and exciting shows to inspire and enthuse children and young people in a wide range of business areas. The annual careers showcase at the University of Northampton saw children from dozens of Northamptonshire schools explore the latest in science, technology, and engineering, all of which are vital areas of the cleaning industry.
Cross said: “One of the core components of the Clean Start Initiative is to engage with students and young people directly through educational events and hands-on experiences, activities that can provide insights into the various roles within our industry and give real life experiences.”
He continued: “These events help ensure that students are well-informed about the qualifications, certifications, and career opportunities available, and more importantly to help dispel any misconceptions about the industry being low-skilled or unfulfilling.”
Through the Clean Start Initiative, the CSSA aims to communicate with students, school leavers and graduates to encourage them to see the potential of the cleaning industry as a compelling and viable career choice.
