B&M Waste Services has extended its sustainable waste management contract with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU).
The partnership, which has been in place since 2015 will now continue for at least another two years.
The zero to landfill, carbon neutral total waste solution covers all of the university’s campuses and buildings across the city.
In 2017, LJMU diverted over 625 tonnes of waste away from landfill. Sixty per cent was recycled, with the remaining residual general and food waste fully recovered for energy use.
This equated to over 470,000kg of indirect carbon emission savings, the equivalent of saving 330 trees and more than 175 thousand car miles.
Martin Christie, Environmental Manager at LJMU, said: “We have made significant strides in the past three years in relation to our sustainability objectives and B&M have proactively supported our waste and recycling agenda. We look forward to continuing along the same lines while receiving a very reliable level of service.”
