Mitie has secured an initial three-year contract to provide cleaning services across 16 of Cleveland Fire Brigade’s sites, including 14 fire stations plus its fire control room.
The terms of the deal will see Mitie providing cleaning services at Endeavour House, Queens Meadow Business Park as well as locations in Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland, and Stockton-On-Tees.
Cleveland Fire Brigade, which employs around 600 people across the region, covers 597 square kilometres around the mouth of the River Tees including over 560,000 residents and 249,000 homes. Its control room is staffed 24/7, 365 days a year to handle all 999 emergency calls requiring a fire service in the area.
Mitie will use a specialist data capturing system which will support staff working the contract to schedule and complete tasks with ease and efficiency. In addition to this, Mitie will increase sustainability credentials across Cleveland Fire Brigade’s estate by testing and deploying a range of eco-friendly cleaning products which will also reduce the amount of single use packaging used at the site.
Commenting on the contract award, Matthew Thompson, Managing Director, Cleaning & Environmental Services, said: “We are delighted to be serving Cleveland Fire Brigade as it works round the clock to provide the local community with emergency support.
“We look forward to building a valuable partnership which focuses on service and sustainability.”
The contract comes with the option to extend for a further two years.
