Boxes of aprons, Medipal wipes and skin cleansing wash cloths are on their way to the Holy Spirit Hospital, Sierra Leone, following a donation by Lutterworth firm, Pal International.
The donation is part of a 20-ft container making its way to the sub-Saharan country via Leicester-based charity Inter Care, which provides targeted medical aid to rural health units in some of the poorest parts of Africa.
Covid-19 has meant unprecedented demand for the infection control company, which supplies medical products to partners across the globe.
Inter Care General Manager Diane Hardy said: “Coronavirus may not care about who it affects, but together, we’ve continued to care about our partners in sub-Saharan Africa. Donations such as these mean we can continue with our mission of saving vulnerable patients’ lives.”
Pal Managing Director Perminder Rupra said: “Preventing infection regardless of wealth is incredibly important to the Pal community. Knowing our products will make a real difference to saving lives in some of the poorest areas of Sierra Leone is fantastic news. We’re delighted to be able to help Inter Care in this small way and support their incredible work.”
Established in 1970 as Pal Wear Disposables, the business has evolved over the last fifty years to become a leading name in the fight against germs and infections in both clinical and food hygiene settings.
