City West Support Services, the cleaning and support services company, has been reappointed by the British Medical Association (BMA), the trade union and professional body for doctors in the UK, following a competitive tender process.
The new five-year contract is for BMA House, the prestigious Grade II listed headquarters building in Tavistock Square, Bloomsbury. The contract covers daily cleaning, specialist cleaning, window cleaning, waste management, pest control, washroom hygiene and porterage.
To support the recruitment and retention of the best, most engaged people, and in partnership with the BMA, City West has been able to enhance the employment terms and conditions of all cleaners and porters to ensure the London Living Wage as a minimum, increased holiday, a generous occupational sick pay scheme, life assurance and additional pension contributions.
The new contract also includes initiatives to deliver a more environmentally friendly operation, whilst reducing the use of chemicals and supporting the BMA’s carbon footprint targets.
Ian Wade, Head of UK Estates at the BMA commented: “City West provided the best, most value driven operational solution for the BMA, taking into account the association’s aims and objectives moving forward, and the flexibility required in the post Covid environment. We are delighted to continue our association with them.”
Martin Fitch, Managing Director City West Support Services commented: “The BMA is an important client for City West, demonstrating a true collaborative partnership that is beneficial for all parties, including industry leading benefits for our site based teams and a truly sustainable cleaning operation.”
