Emergency services workers can rest easy in clean, safe spaces, thanks to a Northamptonshire-based asbestos removal and biohazard cleaning company.
Two of the county’s fire stations, a pair of police stations and a leading hospital have all enlisted Specialist Remediation Solutions (SRS) of Desborough to clean their equipment and environments to eradicate any potentially hazardous substances for staff and visitors.
Specialist equipment used by firefighters for response calls must be dismantled, decontaminated and professionally cleaned should it be exposed to any bacteria or asbestos and spaces such as police cells and hospital wards also regularly require biohazard cleaning after exposure to bodily fluids or toxic substances.
Award-winning SRS not only offers asbestos removal and bacteria decontamination but also a wide range of services including crime scene and trauma clean ups and house clearances for a variety of clients including commercial businesses, care homes, estate agents and other private clients.
At one leading hospital, construction workers found asbestos insulating board hidden behind a frigorific refrigeration unit in the mortuary.
This material, known for its heat resistance and insulation properties, was commonly used in buildings before being banned due to its severe health risks. Once disturbed, asbestos insulating board can release microscopic fibres into the air, posing life-threatening risks if inhaled.
SRS deployed a team of licensed asbestos specialists on the same day that the asbestos insulating board was discovered. Leveraging over 30 years of experience in asbestos remediation, the team developed a comprehensive plan tailored to the hospital’s needs safely removing the hazard without compromising the hospital’s daily operations.
Elena Paunete, Operations Director at SRS, said: “Emergency service workers, police officers, firefighters, doctors and nurses are true heroes, and it is our pleasure to be able to do our part in helping to keep them safe.
“Our professional team is trained to handle a multitude of risks and hazards that can occur in emergency settings. It isn’t as simple as putting on a pair of gloves and starting with a mop and bucket. We need to manage potential biohazards and deal with any toxic waste disposal, as well as ensure that the space is safe and healthy for all.”
