Tarem Services Limited, a cleaning company based in Brockley in the London Borough of Lewisham, has been named a finalist in the UK Social Enterprise Awards, recognising it as one of the country’s most innovative and impactful mission-led businesses.
Social enterprises are businesses that reinvest or donate at least half their profits to a social or environmental cause. Tarem Services’ social mission is to tackle in-work poverty, particularly among cleaners, and the business delivers a wide range of professional services including office cleaning, construction labour supply, waste management, and pest control – all underpinned by a strong commitment to paying Living Wages, employee ownership, and sustainability. In 2024, the business expanded its mission to address food insecurity, launching a mobile foodbank that has already supported over 1,300 individuals in vulnerable communities.
The prestigious national awards are run by Social Enterprise UK to celebrate excellence and innovation across the sector. Tarem Services is shortlisted in both the ‘UK Social Enterprise of the Year’ and ‘Social Enterprise Innovation of the Year’ categories.
Titus Komolafe, Managing Director of Tarem Services, said: “We are incredibly honoured to be shortlisted. This recognition reflects the dedication of our team, who work hard every day to deliver not just services, but social value. It proves that businesses can share profits with workers, invest in communities, and still achieve operational excellence.”
Tarem Services will attend a VIP awards ceremony at Queen Elizabeth Hall, London’s Southbank Centre, on Wednesday 26 November 2025, where the winners will be announced.
There are an estimated 131,000 social enterprises in the UK, employing more than two million people and contributing £60bn to the national economy each year, while also tackling some of the biggest challenges facing people and planet.
Peter Holbrook CBE, Chief Executive of Social Enterprise UK, commented: “Our Awards are the ultimate showcase of social enterprise impact and excellence – so those who made the shortlist represent the future of business and a beacon of hope in turbulent times.
“Despite economic challenges, these trailblazers are not only making profit but using it for the good of people and planet. Businesses big and small have a vital role to play in solving the problems we face as a society, and the social enterprises celebrated at our Awards give us all inspiration and motivation to do business better.”
