Julius Rutherfoord & Co wins at Golden Service Awards

Commercial cleaning company Julius Rutherfoord & Co’s work at a London primary school has seen it named a winner at the 2022 Kimberly-Clark Professional™ Golden Service Awards.

The company, which operates in London and the surrounding boroughs and cleans 136 education sites in the state and independent education sectors, carried off the Education – Pre-School and Primary award, sponsored by Pearroc.

Julius Rutherfoord & Co was incorporated in 1994 by two brothers-in-law and now has sales at over £25 million. Across all its sites, Julius Rutherfoord provides close to 30,000 hours of cleaning services each week.

Of its entry for its Portland Place School contract, judges praised the operatives and management in their “skill and transparency go above and beyond to ensure the site is clean and compliant”.

Stan Atkins, Chief Executive Officer at BICSc, said: “The quality of the entries for the Golden Service Awards was higher and more extraordinary than ever before.

“Innovation, the environment, employee wellbeing and not surprisingly, flexibility, were at the forefront of the agenda. Despite the challenges of the pandemic there was a huge amount of focus on staff welfare, mental health and diversity demonstrating that the evolution of the industry was not halted, but boosted, during the last two years of never before seen challenges.

“It is also clear from the entries that companies are still investing in their people and inspiring their teams through leadership with compassion and empathy.

“This brings huge benefits from boosting morale to employee retention and with staff retention being something that has today become more critical than ever.”

Chris Jarvis, Julius Rutherfoord & Co’s Managing Director, said: “Winning this award is testament to the hard work and professionalism of our team, which was particularly noted by the judging panel.

“We pride ourselves on the quality of our work. Each week Julius Rutherfood & Co employees provide close to 30,000 hours of cleaning services across our sites, some of which have been with us for more than a decade.”

Created more than 30 years ago, the biennial Golden Service Awards is today one of the most prestigious events and sought-after accolades in the FM and cleaning industry.

The event provides the opportunity for FM companies, contract cleaners and in-house cleaning teams to showcase excellence performed under unprecedented challenges, setting the benchmark for exceptional standards.
