Tarem Services, a social enterprise cleaning company tackling in-work poverty, reached 200 residents in Portchester last week during its fifth Mobile Foodbank distribution.
In collaboration with some of its clients, CBRE, Zurich UK, and Portchester Community Association, the initiative distributed essential food supplies to local families, with an additional 30 bags prepared for those unable to attend. Councillor Pal Hayre, Mayor of Fareham, and Portchester Councillor Paul Whittle attended to show their full support.
Since launching the Mobile Foodbank initiative in October 2024, Tarem Services has successfully carried out five distributions across the communities it serves, including to its employees.
Managing Director, Titus Komolafe commented: “We’ve been supporting food banks for years, but we wanted to do more. The Mobile Foodbank allows us to act where we work, tackling food insecurity while creating employment opportunities for local people. It’s not just about giving them a food parcel; it’s also about seeing how we can help them get back into work if they want to.”
Portchester Community Association played a key role in identifying those most in need. Manager Laura Hall-Guy added: “This event not only provided food but also connected people to long-term support services, ensuring ongoing help beyond just one day.”
Local coverage recognised the impact of the Mobile Foodbank, highlighting how the initiative not only provided food but also connected people to long-term support and employment opportunities.
